What about GPA's 12" duplex in a tall, slender MLTL?
GM
Today I returned them. It was hard decision to see off them.
Except for the originality of the diaphragm, my room is too small for two 612 cabinets and my queen didn't really approve.
I took a picture as a reminiscence. (oops,,I cannot attach it ^^)
I feel it will take a long time to have another Altec .

i like that. i have a pair of 419As. I was going to just build a pair of 614b boxes. but MLTLs might be a way to squeeze a little more low end out them. this also could be an option for you sanhanul. these 419s have a very pleasant sound. i've been listening to them just sitting on top of a table. for a couple days now. they really deserve cabinets.![]()

It's been around for quite awhile now.
No personal experience beyond these:

i don't think anyone knows what the specs are. it's a driver that would lend itself to a seat of the pants approach to a cabinet design. the 419 seems to have the same voice coil as a 420, they both have 3" coils and both ohm out out 4.6/7. if thats the case then the difference between them at that point would be 3" smaller diameter outer cone.

Hmm, my memory is still playing tricks with me. Ignore the part about it being an MI driver as I apparently had the 417 'on the brain'.
This is the only cab I can recall ATM with a 419 in it plus I think it was sealed up: http://www.lansingheritage.org/images/altec/plans/1968-enclosure/page12.jpg

Well, back when I started, this is the chart I used, so ~6.25-12 ft^3 for 40 Hz Fs: http://www.lansingheritage.org/images/altec/plans/1960's-lf-design/page03.jpg
This later chart goes from 2.5-12 ft^3 for 39 Hz Fs: http://www.lansingheritage.org/images/altec/plans/1968-enclosure/page04.jpg

i haven't seen the 417 design. I could scrap one together pretty quick. and start there. if i try two different boxes. i could nail the 3rd.
could we move this topic to it's own thread? like "419A biflex enclosiers choices"
